Mali - Doni Blon & Benkadi Bougou
Hotel training center and agro-ecological farm school
Our partner in the field: Terres Jaunes Mali
Location: Ségou, Mali
Project duration: 2011 - 2022
Our mission
The Centre de Formation en Hôtellerie, Restauration et Tourisme Doni Blon was set up in 2011 in Ségou, Mali, to provide an apprenticeship and professional integration opportunity for young people in socio-economic difficulty. Training included reception, catering and tourism-related skills, as well as a variety of theoretical courses (French, English, IT, accounting). Visitors to the hotel and the region were concretely participating in the values of our association and Terres Jaunes-Mali, and contributing to the development of this training hotel. Since 2013, in response to the difficulties of the tourism sector in the country, following the deterioration of the security situation, Tereo has gradually reoriented training towards the field of agroecology, with the opening in 2014 of the Benkadi Bougou farm-school.
The network
During the period of Tereo's support, the Doni Blon - Benkadi Bougou project has directly trained and assisted 357 people into employment. Through this project, Tereo has also directly supported the creation or substantial strengthening of more than 100 family businesses or farmers' cooperatives, and the establishment of the Benkadi Bougou Network, which today brings together more than 300 small-scale agro-ecological producers in the Ségou region to share best practices, exchange seeds and products, and engage in advocacy.
Objectives achieved
Creation of a hotel-school with training restaurant
Creation of a farm-school equipped with tools for comprehensive training in agroecology
Training and support for employment or self-employment for 30 to 50 young people a year
