From June 23 to July 13, our Program Manager Alberto Rotundo and our volunteer Valentina Lazzarini were in Senegal for a decisive step: accompanying the transition of the Keur Yakaar project towards autonomy.

This mission marked a turning point in the history of the project. It provided an opportunity to draw up an overall assessment with the local teams and to strengthen their skills in order to consolidate the sustainability of the activities.

On-site actions

During these three weeks, several objectives were achieved:

  • Training beneficiaries inartificial intelligence to help them enter the workforce.
  • Strengthening local teams’ skills in reporting and fund-raising.
  • Impact study with former beneficiaries.

An impacting project

Since its creation, Keur Yakaar has already enabled almost 500 young people to access free training and develop skills that are essential for their future.

Towards sustainable autonomy

This transition illustrates thecommitment and ability of local teams to continue the project independently. Their involvement, combined with the confidence of partners and beneficiaries, guarantees the continuity of the project.
