Our mission

The project aims to promote sustainable agriculture in South Kivu by strengthening the human and technical capacities of the Kakono agroecological center. It is based on an approach that combines local and scientific knowledge to meet the region's agricultural challenges. The aim is to train farmers to adopt agroecological practices adapted to their context. The project seeks to improve agricultural production while taking into account the social, economic, ecological and political dimensions of agriculture. It also helps young people to become professional farmers, by promoting their integration into sustainable entrepreneurial activities.

Training

The Centre agroécologique de Kakono is a farm-school, practical training center and incubator for young people involved in agriculture. Every year, it welcomes between 80 and 100 pupils from agricultural technical schools and agronomy students, mainly from Bukavu universities, for internships, practical workshops and training stays. The training offered is dynamic and rooted in the field. The young people are accompanied on their farms by the center's trainers, as well as by experienced farmers and members of producers' organizations. Last but not least, the center is a place for experimentation, innovation and the dissemination of good agricultural practices, serving local producers and the entire region.
