Our mission
Phase 1 - Application hotel: The Keur Yakaar project began in 2014 with an application hotel located in La Somone (80 kilometers from Dakar). Open to the public and equipped with several rooms and a restaurant, this establishment offered young Senegalese the opportunity to undergo practical training in real-life conditions. In 2017, a second similar facility was opened in Siné Saloum (La Source aux Lamentins https://www.lasourceauxlamantins.com/). Phase 2 - Agroecology: Since 2022, Tereo has initiated the "Field to Plate" project to complete the application hotel. This project extends the scope of training to agro-ecology. The aim is to deepen learners' knowledge by providing them with general knowledge (production, processing, marketing), while reinforcing the social and environmental sustainability of this sector.
Training
Each year, the center's team selects 30 unemployed school drop-outs for a 10-month training course in the food value chain. The training includes theoretical courses, practical workshops and a work placement. At the end of their training, learners are employed by local companies or receive technical and financial support to set up their own micro-enterprises.
