New partnership with Diobass in the DRC

The director of our association, Isabelle Lejeune, was able to meet a partner in Bukavu, Sylvain Mapatano, head of the DIOBASS association, during the workshop on peasant finance organized by the FGC in Bujumbura (Burundi) from September 25 to 30, 2023.

Focusing on the development of vocational training and agroecology, Tereo is committed to supporting projects in developing countries. This meeting, rich in ideas and inspiration, led to a formal partnership between the two associations. The aim of this partnership is to promote the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices in South Kivu (DRC) by strengthening the human and technical resources of the Kakono agroecological center. The project aims to turn it into a genuine farm-school capable of providing comprehensive training in agroecology, organizing professional internships for agronomy students from the region, and carrying out experimentation and disseminating best practices for the benefit of all local producers.

As this partnership between Geneva and Bukavu takes root, it offers hope for a better future for local communities in the DRC. This kind of international cooperation is essential to solving complex global problems and improving the quality of life for many people. We look forward to seeing the progress and successes this collaboration will bring in the future!
